FIX IT ONCE

FIX IT FOREVER

My main sewer was blocked, and the initial plumbing service only did a partial job with their pressure hose, charging me $450 without resolving the issue. To make matters worse, they quoted me a staggering $12K for unnecessary tree removal and boundary trap replacement. I was under immense distress. Seeking a second opinion, I turned to Drain Fixers. Louis, their skilled technician, used a longer pressure hose and employed superior techniques. After locating the hidden manhole in the backyard, we uncapped it and removed all the tampons, restoring smooth flow to the sewer pipe. I am deeply grateful to Louis for his dedication in resolving the root cause, unlike the previous service that took advantage of my desperation. I wholeheartedly recommend Drain Fixers to anyone in need. They have an exceptional team. Moral of the story: Never flush tampons down the toilet!

Drain Fixers attended a pipe blockage at our place that other plumbers either a) could not diagnose or b) suggested ridiculous and expensive fixes. They had to dig one metre underground (by hand) to access the pipework under the slab and remove concrete that had settled in the sewer pipe causing blockages, and install new connections. Other companies wanted to bring in excavation gear to make the hole. These guys did it with their bare hands in 30 minutes. They are (in my opinion) honest, motivated, and above all the quality of their work is excellent. Also they communicated regularly with me through the day so I knew exactly what was going on. It's hard to find good trades people, but if you're reading this then your search is over. No hesitation to give 5 stars and recommend.

What is Pipe Relining?

Pipe relining is a way of repairing cracked or broken pipes from the inside, without digging. Essentially, it means installing a new, tough pipe inside the existing damaged one, creating a better flow and sealing off any cracks. The section that is relined seals perfectly against the rest of your pipe system, stopping leaks and preventing further breaks.

At Drain Fixers Pipe Relining, our relined pipes are even stronger than brand new pipes, and because there’s no excavation required, you won’t need to dig up your garden like you would if you were replacing your pipes entirely.

Pipe Relining is quickly becoming the preferred method for drain repair and restoration and is used by most major water authorities. Although it is not well known in Australia, it has been used for many years in several countries to repair sewers and stormwater drains.

HOW DOES PIPE RELINING WORK?

There are several important steps required in pipe relining to guarantee a permanent repair. Drain relining only works effectively if the trained installer follows a meticulous and methodical approach:

CCTV Inspection – First we inspect the damaged pipe to determine the current condition. The process is done by feeding through a small drain camera into the drain to conduct a thorough CCTV Pipe Inspection looking for leaks, choke points, open joints, tree root intrusions, and other blockages, gathering the information needed to assess where the repair needs to take place and the extent of the damage. This allows Drain Fixers Pipe Relining installers to properly select the most suitable liner and resins to use for a permanent repair.

Pipe Preparation – The next stage is the preparation process which involves multiple steps. First, the drains are cleaned to remove any blockages using a High-Pressure Water Jetter. Removing tree roots and other obstructions from the pipe without creating further damage can be difficult and requires several specialised cutting tools and an experienced operator, especially when dealing with large tree root intrusions. In extreme cases, a robotic cutter is used to cut through any solid obstructions the water jetter could not remove and to roughen the surface to prepare it for drain relining. Once all obstructions are removed, the Drain Fixers Pipe Relining installer uses the High-Pressure Water Jetter to flush out all debris and ensure a smooth surface. A final check with the CCTV Pipe Inspection camera is done to check that the old pipe is completely clear of obstructions and ready for the new pipe relining to be installed.

Installation – Installation is initiated by first determining the length of the lining material needed. A felt or fibreglass liner/sleeve/sock is then saturated with a resin-mixture and inserted into the drains. The resin mixture is evenly distributed on the entire length to ensure absolute cohesion between the outer part of the liner and the inner wall of the existing pipe. The cohesion process is meticulously done since the success of the installation heavily relies on the cohesion integrity to the original pipe.

Curing process – The installation step is followed by the curing process. This step can take hours if an ambient cure option is chosen, or it can be sped up by using our hot water boiling system. The liner then cures over time and once hardened, creates a new stronger pipe within the old pipe.

Final CCTV inspection – To guarantee a successful installation, the Drain Fixers Pipe Relining installer performs a final camera inspection to check that the liner is in the correct position and the curing process is complete, forming a permanent bond to the original pipe.

HOW MUCH DOES PIPE RELINING COST?

Pipe relining costs start from $500 to $800 per metre yet in every case a free site visit is required to provide an accurate estimate. Key cost variables include:

  • Relining material
  • Labour time
  • Ease of access to the pipes, which may involve a small amount of cutting or digging
  • Location of the damage relative to access
  • The material your pipe is made out of
  • Length of damaged pipework
  • The diameter of damaged pipework
  • How many breaks and their lengths
  • Re-building pipe connections after relining in PVC pipes

When weighing up your options for pipe repairs, remember to factor in the following cost and quality benefits:

  1. Reduced Expense: Requiring little to no impact to property, pipe relining minimises the cost to repair or replace built structures, surrounding landscapes and hardscapes.
  2. Cost-Effective: Repairs are generally completed in far less time than the old ‘Dig to Discover’ method, saving labour and subsequently money.
  3. Less Disruption: Generally, one point of access is all that is required to find, clear, and fix the damaged pipes.
  4. No Mess: Avoid the inconvenience of having to put up with mess everywhere in your property.
  5. Futureproof: Even where the pipe is missing, the new epoxy piping creates a solid, seamless, smooth barrier and fits to all the cracks and lines of the old pipe to prevent leaks and future root intrusion.
  6. Improved Water Flow: Pipe Relining increases the water flow inside the pipe as the smooth surface reduces friction compared to clay and cast-iron pipes.
  7. Peace of Mind: Pipe Relining is a long-lasting solution which should include both manufacturers and workmanship guarantees.

We’re Honest:

One of the first things you will notice in your experience with us is that we are completely honest, ethical, and very knowledgeable about relining sewer and stormwater pipes.

We will tell you straight up if we think that a pipe relining service is suitable for you and give you a fair price to do the job correctly to the Australian Standard.

If you have already had another quote and aren’t 100% sure about the company or the price, then give us a call and you will very quickly see the difference between us and the large National companies that will always try and up-sell you on a product or service that you might not even need.

Products We Use:

We purchase all our Liner and Resin from RSM Lining Supplies. RSM is highly regarded in the industry as the best pipe relining supplier in the world due to their extensive range of high-quality products.

Pipe relining is not a “one brand fits all” approach. Different liners and resins need to be used in different scenarios. Some pipelines need rock solid strength, some need flexibility, some need to be structural. So, after a thorough inspection of your drains, we choose the very best liner and resin to permanently repair your problem – forever!

Guarantee:

We have complete confidence in the products we use and the way our team installs them which enables us to offer an unmatched 50-Year Guarantee!

You will notice that this is 15-35 years longer than most other pipe relining companies in Melbourne. In our opinion, their short guarantee periods do not show much confidence in the products they use or in their installation techniques.

What Are The
Steps of a Drain Relining Procedure?

How it works

clean

Then, we clean the pipes with our high-pressure water jets and prepare the pipe for drain relining

The liner is filled with resin and a deflated bladder is inserted into the liner. The liner is then inserted into the damaged pipe.

The resin cures to form a permanent replacement pipe. The bladder is then removed to allow for immediate use of the pipe.

Once in position, the bladder inflates and expands the liner to form the shape of the new pipe. This creates a new pipe within the damaged pipe
